Joomla Day New England was held on June 5, 2010, in Marlboro, Vermont, USA. We had 125 attendees, enjoying 12 speakers, terrific networking, and Joomla. Busy Bug Squad Builds Betas

E-mail

Version 1.6 beta2 was released on 31 May, 2 weeks after beta1. In case you missed it, there was a lot of excellent work done during those two weeks! For example, we fixed 115 issues in the SVN and closed 69 other issues in the tracker.

I want to thank everyone who contributed to this effort. And I want to recognize some individuals who have gone above and beyond the call of duty.

The following people helped on 10 or more issues in the tracker for beta2: Bill Richardson, Christopher Garvis, Rob Joyce, and Rouven Weßling.

The following people posted coding fixes for 4 or more issues during the beta2 period: Artyom Bisyarin, Dennis Hermacki, Jonnathan S. Lima, Omar Ramos, Phil Snell, and Radek Suski.

And these people helped on 10 or more issues AND posted coding patches for 4 or more issues: Airton Torres, Amy Stephen, Andrea Tarr, Andrew Eddie, Christophe Demko, Elin Waring, Jean-Marie Simonet, and Michael Babker. Wow!

JED 5000: Thank you Joomla Developer Community

E-mail

The Joomla Extensions Directory reached a milestone today, topping the 5000 listings mark.  That means more than 5000 extensions are available to the community as open source and GPL.  A few years ago, members of the community had questioned the ability of the JED to thrive while only allowing GPL extensions to be listed.

I am proud to report that the JED continues to thrive, as well as the commercial extension developers who have embraced the GPL business models that are keeping the Joomla community rich with choices.

Recently, some of our longest holdouts of alternate licenses have rounded out the offerings by switching to the GPL license and returning to the JED.  We're happy to be able to once again support these extensions and their developers.

In fact, the extension that broke the 5000 listing mark was an add-on for a previously non-GPL product.  Without that change, this listing would not have been possible.  Congratulations to Styleware for that listing!

As Joomla transitions into version 1.6 and beyond, we are on a very firm footing of resources for our community.  With those resources are 150,000 JED users and the reviews and votes that go with them.  It's a huge project, a huge resource and it's thanks to each and every member of the Joomla community.

We in the extensions directory want to thank every developer whose listings make up that 5004, because without you we couldn't be here today.
